Voices: The Journal of New York Folklore is an active scholarly membership magazine published biannually by the New York Folklore Society. Launched in 2000 through the merger of the journal New York Folklore with “Voices”—the eight-page center section of the New York Folklore Newsletter—with volume numbering continuing from the former, it publishes research on all aspects of folklore studies, with an emphasis on the vernacular culture of New York State.
Each issue features original articles on a range of topics related to traditional art and life, together with commentary, interviews, personal stories and regular columns on subjects such as photography, sound and video recording, legal and ethical issues, and the nature of vernacular culture. It also contains reviews of books, recordings, films, videos, exhibitions, concerts, and other media relevant to the field.
The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 2000 and 2015.
