Residential Treatment for Children & Youth is an active peer-reviewed scholarly journal published quarterly by Taylor & Francis. Launched in 1982, it is the official journal of the Association of Children's Residential Centers (ACRC) and publishes the latest research, developments and best practices in the field of residential care for children and young people.
Each issue features original articles aimed at residential care providers and practitioners that bridge the gap between theory, practice, and policy in order to improve services for vulnerable children and youth in child welfare, mental health and juvenile justice systems. Published papers address and examine all issues relevant to residential care settings, from staff retention, training, services, and funding to delivering specialized programs for diverse populations. It also contains commentaries, practice concepts and innovations, and position papers, together with reviews of new books. Occasional special-focus issues are dedicated to a particular topic of interest.
The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 2005 and 2007.
