Photosynthesis Research is an active peer-reviewed scientific journal covering research in all areas related to photosynthesis. It was established in 1980 and is published monthly by Springer. Photosynthesis Research is the official journal of the International Society for Photosynthesis Research (ISPR).

The journal publishes papers dealing with basic and applied aspects of photosynthesis, including light absorption and emission, primary photochemistry, photorespiration, molecular biology, environmental and ecological aspects, and bacterial and algal photosynthesis.  Research in all photosynthetic systems, including natural organisms and (semi-)artificial systems are featured.

Discussion relates to both basic and applied aspects of photosynthesis including research at all levels of plant organisation from molecular and subcellular, to whole plant and ecosystem, covering photophosphorylation, carbon assimilation, regulatory phenomena, molecular biology, environmental and ecological aspects, photorespiration and more
