Ophthalmology is an active peer-reviewed medical journal currently published monthly by Elsevier. Launched in 1901, it is the official journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and publishes clinical research that relates to the sense of sight.

Each issue features original articles and commentary on new diagnostic and surgical techniques, instrument updates, treatment methods, the latest drug findings, results of clinical trials, and research findings. It also contains invited reports, correspondence, and systematic review or meta-analysis, as well as papers presented at an American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. Occasional special-focus supplement issues are dedicated to a particular topic of interest. 

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1901 and 2012.
