Erkenntnis is an active peer-reviewed philosophical journal currently published bimonthly by Springer. Originally founded in 1930 by Rudolf Carnap (1891–1970) and Hans Reichenbach (1891–1953)—as a replacement for Annalen der Philosophie und Philosophischen Kritik—it ceased publication in 1940, before being revived in 1975 by Carl G. Hempel, Wolfang Stegmüller, and Wilhelm K. Essler. The journal's name derives from the German word for "knowledge, recognition.”

Each issue features original articles and critical discussions committed in one way or another to the philosophical attitude signified by the label 'scientific philosophy'. Published papers cover a range of topics including, but not limited to, epistemology, philosophies of science, logic and language, ontology, philosophical psychology and practical philosophy. Occasional special-focus issues are dedicated to a particular topic of interest.

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1989 and 2013.
