Diverse: Issues in Higher Education is an active bi-weekly publication focused on access and  opportunity for all in higher education. First published in 1984 as Black Issues in Higher Education, it describes itself as the “preeminent source of critical news, information and insightful commentary on the full range of issues concerning diversity in American higher education.”

The aim of the newsmagazine is to be a catalyst for change, generate public policy and resolve inequalities that exist within the higher education system. Topics include issues such as tenure, salary, faculty, students, recruitment, retention and access as well as equity. In 2002 Diverse won the Folio Award for best education publication in America. 

In 2005 the magazine was renamed Diverse: Issues in Higher Education to better reflect their expanded coverage and America’s changing demographic. Aiming to further highlight the issues not only faced by black Americans but also Asian Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, Native Americans, people with disabilities, seniors, LGBTQIA, veterans as well as other underrepresented groups. 

The Internet Archive collection contains microfilm published between 1987 and 2015.
