Cold Regions Science and Technology is an active peer-reviewed scientific journal currently published monthly by Elsevier. Launched in 1979, it publishes the latest interdisciplinary research on the scientific and technical problems of cold environments in both the polar regions and more temperate locations.

Each issue features original articles, reviews and short communications on fundamental aspects of cryospheric sciences which have applications for cold regions problems, as well as engineering topics which relate to the cryosphere. The journal particularly concourages contributions that provide coverage of the physical and mechanical aspects of ice (including glaciers and sea ice), snow and snow avalanches, ice-water systems, ice-bonded soils and permafrost. It also publishes papers covering technological advances in engineering research, development, and practice in cold regions. Occasional special-focus sections and issues are dedicated to a particular topic of interest or contain proceedings of relevant conferences, symposia, and workshops.
