Blood is an active peer-reviewed scientific journal currently published weekly by Elsevier on behalf of the American Society of Hematology (ASH). Founded in 1946 by American hematologist William Dameshek (1900–1969), it publishes the latest clinical and basic research in all areas of hematology.

Each issue features original articles that describe investigations in hematology, with those that focus on human immunobiology, immunotherapy, and immune pharmacology approaches in the human setting or offer significant implications for understanding of normal or malignant hematologic processes particularly encouraged. Published papers cover a range of topics, including disorders of both benign and malignant leukocytes, both benign and malignant, erythrocytes, platelets, hemostatic mechanisms, vascular biology, immunology, and hematologic oncology. Nobel Prize winner George R. Minot (1885–1950) wrote the foreword in the journal’s first issue, then known as Blood: The Journal of Hematology. Supplements contain abstracts of papers presented at the ASH annual meeting.
