The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene is an active peer-reviewed scientific journal published monthly by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH). Launched in 1952 through the merger of the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Journal of the National Malaria Society, it is the official journal of the ASTMH and publishes the latest scientific and technological developments in tropical medicine, global health, and related areas.

Each issue features original articles reporting on novel research of interest to tropical disease specialists, public health officials, and others concerned with health issues of the tropics, developing nations, and emerging infectious diseases. It also contains review papers, images in Clinical Tropical Medicine, case studies, reports on the efficacy of new drugs and methods of treatment, prevention and control methodologies, new testing methods and equipment, and book reports. Occasional supplement issues are dedicated to topics of special interest or areas of concern.

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1952 and 1969.
