The American Journal of Gastroenterology (AJG) is an active peer-reviewed clinical journal currently published monthly by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins on behalf of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). Launched in 1934 as The Review of Gastroenterology, it acquired its current name in 1954 and publishes clinical research in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Each issue features original articles, clinical and systematic reviews, and brief communications that provide practical and professional support for clinicians treating patients with gastroenterological disorders. Published papers cover a range of topics, including colon and small bowel, endoscopy, esophagus, functional GI disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, liver, pancreas and biliary tract, pathology, pediatrics, nutrition/obesity, and stomach. It also contains the latest ACG Clinical Guidelines, correspondence, video and images articles, and continuing medical education. Occasional special-focus and supplement issues are dedicated to a particular topic of interest or contain abstracts from related symposium or conference proceedings.

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1949 and 2011.
