The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse is an active peer-reviewed medical journal published bimonthly by Taylor & Francis. Launched in 1974, it publishes translational research on all aspects of addiction.

Each issue features original articles covering preclinical and clinical aspects of the field, along with papers that explore addictions other than substance use disorders. Published papers cover a range of topics of interest to researchers working in diverse areas, including public policy, epidemiology, neurobiology, and the treatment of addictive disorders. It also contains reviews, perspectives, letters to the editor, and methods in addiction research. Occasional special-focus issues are dedicated to a particular topic of interest. 

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1981 and 2013.
